Kate Rhudy
Kate is a student in the clinical social work program at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She also holds a J.D. from Georgetown Law and a B.A. in History from the University of Virginia. Before beginning her career in mental health, Kate worked in multiple nonprofit and government roles on juvenile justice policy development, advocacy and training. Most recently, she managed a MacArthur Foundation-funded program of the International Association of Chiefs of Police geared to transforming the role of law enforcement in juvenile justice. Adolescent brain development, trauma and mental health interventions were central to these initiatives. As a volunteer with Whitman-Walker Health's behavioral health program, Kate worked as a peer group facilitator to support adults navigating major life transitions. At Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Kate supports the adult outpatient and Wellbeing in School Environments (WISE) programs. She is working to provide every client with mental health care that responds to their individual needs, engages them in decisions about their care, brings empathy into every interaction, and builds trust.
